Second defeat dents Sarisbury promotion hopes

Sarisbury slipped to a second consecutive defeat to put a huge dent in their Southern Electric Premier Cricket League Three promotion hopes when they lost at home to Hursley.

Hursley won the toss and put Sarisbury in on a damp pitch which caused the home side no end of problems.

Only Miller (42), Hammond (38) and Bond (38) got a decent start without going on to a really commanding score and left Sarisbury on just 184 when the innings closed.

In the second half the sun came out and things got a bit easier for batsmen but not before Sarisbury had knocked over both openers with the score on just 13.

But the crucial moment came when Hursley’s number three, Cox was dropped on five. He went on to score 95 and as the afternoon wore on, defeat became more and more inevitable.

Sarisbury never gave up and James Ingram in particular bowled his heart out, taking three for 24 but Hursley ran out winners by four wickets.
