Burridge preserved their Southern Electric Premier Cricket League Two status with a priceless last day win over New Milton.
At the start of the day, Burridge found themselves in the third from bottom slot in the league, with Portsmouth three points below them.
Whatever happened Burridge had to ensure that Portsmouth did not better their points tally by four points or more.
And with such a crucial match ahead Burridge finally won the toss and invited New Milton to bat.
And it was a great start with Greg Thew dismissing the New Milton number one and three batsmen with only 11 runs on the board. Then Nick McMurray got rid of their danger man Josh Hill.
There then was a steady fall of wickets with Jamie Rood behind the stumps having the time of his life by claiming seven catches. Wickets were shared around with Greg Thew claiming three.
After two stoppages for rain, the second of which was quite lengthy, Burridge emerged after an early tea to claim the one remaining New Milton wicket with the total at 179 all out.
The Duckworth Lewis target was set at 158 in 39 overs, a stiff task in the conditions. At the 15 over mark it looked as if the weather was going to intervene for good, but the clouds managed to disperse.
Burridge lost Nick Ball with only three runs on the board, but then Byron Van Der Merwe and Derek Kenway put together a stand of 74 in reasonable time.
New Milton then introduced the youngster Pip Elliott into the attack, and he immediately caused a few flutters by picking up three quick wickets to take Burridge from 77-1 to 78-4.
But Rick Ankers with his recent run of good form had other ideas, and he and Derek Kenway then put together an unbroken partnership of 80 to see Burridge home with six overs to spare.
